Under Trinity Alliance’s leadership, this first phase will oversee the full scope of preconstruction, construction, and related demolition services for the reimagined convention center expansion. Spanning 2.1 million square feet, the revitalized Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center Dallas (KBHCCD) will feature 750,000 square feet of state-of-the-art exhibit halls, 180,000 square feet of versatile meeting rooms, and a signature 105,000-square-foot grand ballroom designed for marquee events. Component 1 of the project will not only transform the convention center but also drive local economic activity, create new jobs, and generate broad opportunities for firms and workers throughout the region.

This expansion will add 500,000 square feet of flexible event space, bringing the total facility to ~2.5 million square feet, including exhibit halls, meeting rooms, and a 100,000+ sq ft grand ballroom.

Yes, the existing convention center will continue to operate throughout the construction period. The new facility is being built on a nearby site to ensure no gap in service.

The Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center will stand as example of sustainability within the district. The new facility is being designed to meet LEEDGold certification. Through the reuse of existing infrastructure and throughout construction, considerable waste impacts are being offset by diverting a minimum 75% of all waste. Additional stress on utilities will be addressed by lowering energy demand through the utilization of efficient building systems, including an innovative geothermal pile system where energy and structural systems are combined, coupled with a photovoltaic solar array to produce onsite energy. Through design considerations and product selections, the project incorporates a wholistic approach to lower its carbon footprint. Notably, the new convention center will feature bird-friendly design – using fritted bird-safe glass that is subtle to people but visible to birds – to protect migratory bird populations. In addition, the plan adds resilient measures with greenspace throughout, improving air quality and reducing ambient heat while managing stormwater.
