Pioneer Park is a cultural landmark where Dallas’ earliest history, its most iconic public art and its largest downtown green space come together. The site encompasses Pioneer Cemetery — the resting place of many of Dallas’ founders — and Pioneer Plaza, home to the famed “Trail Drive” sculptures by Texas artist Robert Summers. The reimagined Pioneer Park will honor the city’s beginnings while creating a vibrant, welcoming destination that connects history, art and community in the heart of a rapidly transforming convention and entertainment district.

Pioneer Park Vision Highlighted at Living Memorials Summit

December 2025

Pioneer Park was featured during the Constellation of Living Memorials Summit, where national leaders gathered to discuss the restoration of historic cemeteries and green spaces.


City of Dallas and project partners shared how plans for Pioneer Park will honor the site’s history while creating a more accessible and welcoming public space. Priorities include improved pathways, added shade, water features, and interpretive elements that help tell Dallas’ story.

The discussion positioned Pioneer Park as part of a broader effort to reconnect historic landscapes with modern urban life.
