Public Engagement Highlight
You Said
"We need more green spaces and places for families to gather in downtown Dallas."
We Did
Added 50 acres of parks and plazas, including a new 10-acre central park with playgrounds, splash pads, and event lawns in the heart of downtown.

Bird Safety
What We’ve Heard
Community members raised concerns about the environmental impacts of extensive glass façades, citing the site’s history and migratory location, including comments urging that bird-friendly glass be treated as a priority.
What We’re Doing
Because Dallas sits on a major migratory route, the design prioritizes environmental stewardship by using bird-friendly glass with subtle visible patterns that birds can see, reducing collisions while preserving natural light and transparency for the community.

Active Uses, Retail, and Ground-Level Activation
What We’ve Heard
Residents want the Convention Center District to feel lively and welcoming every day beyond major events, including more ground-level food, retail, and active outdoor spaces that bring energy to the area.
What We’re Doing
The project plans for future ground-level retail and active uses along Lamar Street, with infrastructure designed to support everyday activity, temporary activations, and long-term food and retail.

Pedestrian and Bicycle Activity
What We’ve Heard
Residents expressed interest in improved walkability and stronger bicycle connections through the district.
What We’re Doing
Safe and comfortable walking and biking with upgraded pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure, including physically separated bike lanes on nearly all adjacent streets and a central Greenway that connects to the Convention Center, DART light rail, and bus service.

Public Transit Integration (DART)
What We’ve Heard
A need for a safer, more welcoming, and better connected transit arrival experience at the Convention Center that integrates seamlessly with public transit and everyday activity.
What We’re Doing
The project enhances transit access by daylighting and upgrading the DART Light Rail Station, integrating it into a central mobility hub with improved pedestrian, bicycle, bus, rideshare, and drop-off facilities to create a safe and welcoming arrival experience.

Site Connectivity & Neighborhood Connections
What We’ve Heard
Community members expressed concern that the site feels hard to navigate and disconnected from surrounding neighborhoods and public spaces.
What We’re Doing
Site connectivity is a central design focus, strengthening links between Convention Center entrances, the DART station, green spaces, and surrounding neighborhoods through integrated public spaces, enhanced pedestrian and bike infrastructure, and new east–west connections that support seamless movement.
